Setting up Google Analytics

Estimated reading time: 2 min

Before you can start analyzing data from your website visitors, you need to have a Google account, sign up for analytics tracking, and choose the data you want to track. Follow the steps below –

Step 1 – Make sure you have not enabled Google Analytics already

If you’re sure you’ve never enabled Google Analytics for your website before, you may skip to Step 2.

If you aren’t sure whether you’ve enabled Google Analytics for your store before, then follow these steps to confirm:

  1. Click “Website” on the left menu
  2. Go to “Analytics” section

  3. In the section that says Your Google Analytics Script, make sure that the box only has the text – Place your code from Google here, and is otherwise empty. If you see this text, then continue to the next step. If you see a code or script instead, then you have enabled Google Analytics already.

Step 2 – Setup a Google Account

You will need a Google account to use Google Analytics. If you already use Google products, such as Gmail, then you can use the same account with Google Analytics.

If you don’t already have a Google account, then you should create a Google account

After you have a Google account, continue to Step 3: Setup Google Analytics.
